2018 Update

¡HOLA!

So what's goin' on?  Don't care.  Time for me.

It's been over a year since I released my last album, 'The Brotherhood of the Traveling Jockstrap'.  The reviews have been just awful.  So I've decided to not let my family listen to any future albums.  I do not deal with negative criticism well at all.

So, update time.  Earlier in the year, I had an idea.  A strange, bold, scary, beautiful, disturbing idea that would involve a few other bands / musicians from the area.  With not having written anything in so long, I was all set to get started on the project and see who else would join me on this strange, bold, scary, beautiful, disturbing ride.  However, when it came time to start recruiting, I felt a bit worried of what the other kids would think of my idea.  So I've placed that on the very back burner for now.

As things usually go when I haven't written anything in a while, every idea sounds great at first, until it doesn't.  Idea 1 was a bust..for now.  Idea 2 was to write new songs with a band.  Last year, a couple of friends and I started a kinda band.  Kinda because we only practiced a few times.  And the last time was over almost a year ago.  And I don't think we ever decided it would be a full-on-band.  It was just jamming.  But a boy can dream.  While I do hope to work with them in the future, things have stalled on that idea, so movin' on..

Idea 3, or as I'll call it, ..  nah, we'll just stick with Idea 3.  I've written a few new songs.  And I've written these on the ol' acoustic.  So Idea 3 is to go back to my roots, but then a bit more into the future since my roots was Pastor Jim, and do what my solo work started out with:  just an acoustic guitar and my angelic voice.  This is still on the table.

Idea 4 is to keep riding this wave, and start adding more and more instruments until it sounds like I'm a band again.  This is probably the route I'll go.  As much as I like my old acoustic works, I feel like I've grown over the years, and I like the evolution of Always The Bride.

Idea 3.1/4.1 is where it gets complicated.  Before deciding on the direction in which I was going to take these new songs, as I do like to keep them connected in a way, I had written a couple songs.  One includes a name, which I do not intend to keep for the new album.  And both of them feature themes that don't really fit either.  So I'm left with a decision, as I really like one of the songs, while the other is.. eh.

(in true atb fashion, this was written in october/november of '18 and left unfinished..thought i'd go on and post it anyway..nothing has come from any ideas.  new music not incoming.)
